SCHOOL NEWS: Rajasthan govt asks private schools not to collect fees until re-opening
In the light of the Coronavirus outbreak, the Rajasthan state government has asked the private schools not to collect advance fees from the students until they re-open. Earlier, the state government had stopped the schools in the state from taking an advance fee for three. Rajasthan School Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasara said that the private schools in the state have been directed not to take fees from the students until June 30, 2020. This order has now been extended until the schools re-open. Schools and colleges in the country have been struggling since March 2020 given the lockdown imposed. The schools and colleges stopped functioning since mid-March due to the increasing cases of COVID-19 in the country. With the lockdown continuing, many of the state governments ordered its private schools to stop collecting the fee from the students keeping in mind the pandemic situation and financial losses incurred by the parents due to the same. Schools were asked to provide a buffer period for collecting the school fee while some states also asked the schools not to collect the fee until the situation comes back to normal. This was done considering that schools fee will be considered as an additional burden for the parents who are already suffering losses due to the lack of running businesses during the pandemic.
